Cannot add "connected data" from COS private endpoint Connection

I created a Connection in my Catalog corresponding to a personal instance of IBM COS and set the URL to the COS private endpoint. When I tried to "add data asset from connection" I could not, presumably because the code to read the list of buckets is running in browser and thus cannot connect to the SoftLayer private IP.

When I switch to use the public endpoint this problem goes away, but that's a poor answer.

Who would benefit from this IDEA? As a data engineer, I would like to specify a private endpoint for Connections in my Catalog

Jake/Lena can you get a perspective on this and figure out if this is a defect we need to fix or if this is something we need to add to the backlog to extend our support for.

Hi Jake / Lena, did you get a chance to review this? Here's the error message I receive. I don't think it's a matter of credentials (unless by chance you meant VPN credentials or something). I think the problem is that the UI expects to be able to access the connection. I think that expectation needs revisiting. Not only for IBM Cloud Object Storage, but also for other data sources hidden behind corporate firewalls etc.

Per Lena - If you provided the appropriate credentials it should work. I will review.
