Planning Analytics and Cognos Analytics Cloud are often used by Companies who lack the IT infrastructure capable of hosting PA or CA. The use the Secure Gateway Client to connect to on-premise data sources can be complicated for these users to use as they don't have the understanding of IT needed to navigate the configuration files to update the security token in the event the token expires. Adding the facility to update the token in the UI would make the configuration more accessible to users reducing the need for IT resources.
Why is it useful?
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Cognos Analytics and Planning Analytics Users|
How should it work?
Currently, the only way to update this link is to edit the securegw_service.config manually and restart the service. To solve the problem, i suggest that when the security token expires the UI prompts for the new security token when provided, the system checks the token then updates the config file. Adding this functionality would make the Gateway Client more accessible to users who are often administrating the Cognos Analytics and Planning Analytics environments.
|Priority Justification||Medium because it's a nice to have feature that would help to make users less depended on IT Resources|
